Mazda CX-5 vs. Honda CR-V

  • Utility. Whether your hobbies involve a lightweight popup camper, a couple of mountain bikes, or a small boat, the Mazda CX-5 has higher utility ratings to make every adventure easier. While our CX-5 has a top towing capacity of 2,000 pounds, the Honda CR-V tops out at 1,500 pounds for towing. Additionally, the CX-5 has a hauling payload capacity in the 970-pound to 1,033-pound range, while the CR-V has a maximum payload of just 850 pounds.
  • Power. Highly customizable, the Mazda CX-5 gives Ohio drivers a choice for how they want their SUV powered. Standard power comes from a base, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. Drivers looking for a little more can opt for the available, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder powertrain that's available on upper trims. It can produce 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with regular gas, or up to 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque with high-octane fuel. But the Honda CR-V doesn't give drivers any choices. Every model in its lineup gets the same engine, which also can't deliver the same level of power as top CX-5 models.
  • Customization and luxury. While the Honda CR-V has four trim levels and a range of equipment options available, the Mazda CX-5 goes above and beyond to give Wooster and Medina drivers more. A lot more. Look for seven outstanding trim levels for this model and a menu of optional add-ons and packages. The CX-5 starts with an interior that's well-crafted and luxury-level in its materials and features and adds more the further up the lineup you move. The Honda CR-V doesn't offer as great a range of options or pampering luxury.
  • Standard features. Not only does the Mazda CX-5 offer you a greater range of options to personalize your ride, but it also delivers more standard features on every trim, so you don't have to travel far to get the equipment you really want. For example, the Mazda CX-5 starts with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, push-button start, and backseats that both fold and recline. The Honda CR-V doesn't have many of the same amenities standard and, if it offers them at all, it's strictly for upper trim levels.
