While the engine of your car is running, the alternator delivers voltage to the battery, headlights, stereo, spark plugs, and every other electrical component. Alternators typically last between 80,000 and 160,000 miles, after which they begin to fail and you'll notice some of the following issues. If you suspect your alternator is nearing the end, head to your local Mazda dealer for alternator repair or to purchase a new one. Does Your Mazda Need an Alternator Repair? Your Battery Fails To Recharge If the alternator isn't recharging the battery every time you drive, you may find yourself without any electrical power when the engine's turned off. This will prevent you from even starting the engine, which requires a healthy burst of voltage from the battery. Multiple Accessories Are Malfunctioning While driving, you probably use multiple electrical components without even thinking about it. If you ever find that many of these electronics are slowing down or failing at once, your alternator is probably to blame. These electrical car parts include your headlights, power windows, power steering, air conditioning, heated seats, dashboard screens and dials, phone charger, and much more. Your Engine Starts Misfiring Perhaps the most important electrical components in your car are the ignition coils and spark plugs inside the engine. If the alternator fails to deliver enough power to allow the spark plugs to spark, then your cylinders won't fire, and your engine will start misfiring before eventually stalling. You Hear Growling or Whining Sounds The alternator converts mechanical power from the engine into electrical power. This mechanical power comes from the serpentine belt, which connects to the engine's crankshaft. If this belt ever slips, your alternator will fail, and you're likely to hear growling or whining sounds as the loose belt rubs awkwardly against the pulleys. Your Battery Warning Light Is Blinking Whenever there's a problem with the car's electrical supply, sensors are designed to detect the problem and warn you with the battery warning light on the dashboard. If you see the battery symbol come to life, it may indicate either an issue with the car's battery or the alternator. You'll probably need a technician to determine the culprit. Your Mazda Dealer May Repair or Replace Your Alternator Bad alternators can sometimes be repaired. If the belt has come loose, your technician may be able to put it back into position or replace it with a new one. Faulty parts inside the alternator itself might also be replaceable, but if an alternator is very old and has multiple faults, the whole alternator may need to go. Visit Mazda of Wooster today to have your alternator inspected and repaired by experienced professionals. We're a trusted local dealership dedicated to delivering top-notch vehicles and customer service. Image Via Pixabay

One of the most dangerous situations for your car is your engine overheating. Your Mazda has an efficient cooling system that ensures your engine operates at a safe temperature. The key to the cooling system is the radiator, which removes the heat and exchanges it for cool air. These are a few signs that you need to visit your Mazda dealer for a radiator repair. 3 Signs You Need a Radiator Repair at Your Mazda Dealer Damaged Radiator Fins The radiator removes heat from your engine by heat exchange. Engine heat is transported to the radiator by the coolant. Inside the radiator, the coolant is directed into parallel radiator fins. The top section of each fin is angled to improve airflow and direct it over the fins. Air flows in through the radiator grille and cools the heat inside the fins as it passes over them. The fins are made from thin aluminum and can become dented or damaged sand, grit, or gravel blown in through the grille. Over time, the number of dented or damaged fins can increase, which limits the surface area for cooling. If enough fins are damaged, the radiator can't remove engine heat, and your engine can be damaged. We'll examine the fins and either repair them or replace the radiator to fix this problem. Broken Water Pump The water pump sends coolant through your engine at high speed. The pump starts working as soon as coolant is released, and it continues to move coolant through your engine until the engine temperature drops below 180 F. The pump is sturdy and has few moving parts, but it can still become worn or damaged over time. If the water pump fails, coolant will still be released into your engine, but it won't be able to move. The lack of coolant will cause your engine to rapidly overheat. We'll examine the pump and determine the cause of the problem. A blown fuse or damaged wiring could prevent the pump from working. Once we've identified the cause of the problem, we'll repair it or replace the pump if it's failed. Clogged Radiator The coolant absorbs heat from the engine, but it also absorbs dirt, grease, and other items as it travels to the radiator. As we've seen, the heat is removed from the coolant and the now-cool coolant recirculates through the engine again. The dirt and other items absorbed by the coolant are left inside the radiator as the coolant passes out. The debris deposited by the coolant will gradually build up inside the radiator and creates blockages. These blockages can prevent coolant from entering the radiator and being cooled. The first sign you'll usually have a clogged radiator is a steady increase in your temperature gauge. We can remove blockages by flushing the radiator and then reinstalling it. Don't risk damage from an overheating engine. Call us today at Mazda of Wooster. Image Via Pixabay

For today's car buyers, the number of great features a vehicle has can be as much of an influence as its performance. The 2023 Mazda3 Hatchback excels on both counts with outstanding performance and a vast array of attributes the competition envies. Here are six key features you will discover about the Mazda3 when you visit a Mazda dealer. 6 Key Features of the Mazda3 Hatchback Showcased at a Mazda Dealer G Vectoring Control One of the things you notice about the car is its ride quality. The reason it is so good is down to the G Vectoring Control Plus system, which uses automated braking and engine torque adjustments to control the car entering and exiting corners. The changes applied are nuanced, so you hardly notice them, but the overall effect is dynamic chassis control, which improves stability. Cargo Volume Being a hatchback, the car takes advantage of the extra space to provide exceptional cargo volume for a compact car of 20.1 cu ft when the seats are in the upright position. If you need more, the space can be increased to 47.1 cu ft when the second row is folded down, giving plenty of room for groceries and the kid's bags. Remote Engine Start Gone are the days when you have to venture into the cold or heat to warm up or cool down your car. It can now be done through your smartphone using the Remote Engine Start feature. This lets you start and stop the engine before you get in and, in addition, can lock or unlock your doors, making the process of getting going much easier. Vehicle Health Status Allied to the remote start feature is the Vehicle Health Status function, a tool that is designed to provide you with extensive real-time information about the health of your car. It will tell you tire pressure, fuel levels, and whether the doors are closed, among other things, providing alerts if it detects an abnormality in the readings. Traffic Jam Assist Nothing is more tiring than driving in slow-moving traffic. You constantly have to slow down and adapt your distance to the other vehicles. Traffic Jam Assist, available on specific models, can remove much of this burden. Part of Mazda's Radar Cruise Control functions, this feature works when the car speed is below 40 mph and provides distance and steering assistance to manage the situation. Blind Spot Monitoring Many advanced safety features are available across the trim levels, and one of the most helpful is the Blind Spot Monitoring system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The system works by detecting traffic on either side of the car in a zone stretching 164 ft behind the driver. The system also activates if you are backing out of space, looking for possible traffic on the road behind, and sending out visual and audible warnings. As you can see, this hatchback has some incredible features, but this is just a small number of those available across the models. You can discover more of its attributes by coming to see the car. So visit us at Mazda of Wooster today, and let us show you around the car in more detail.

The battery has two important functions. It provides the electrical charge that starts your engine, and it maintains the electrical systems when the engine is switched off. A battery has a limited lifespan, and will eventually need a new car battery from your Mazda dealer. We'd like you to know some signs that your battery could be failing. Signs You Need a New Car Battery From Your Mazda Dealer The Battery Is Old On average, a car battery will last for three to five years before it needs replacement. The battery stores electricity in the form of chemical energy. The chemical processes that allow the battery to store electricity will slowly fail as the chemicals themselves break down and recombine. A battery's longevity is also reduced by extreme weather and even driving conditions. A battery will always show some signs that it's failing. Some of the signs of a failing battery include starting difficulties, dim lights, and random electrical issues when the engine is switched off. If you spot any of these signs, visit us for a battery test. We'll connect your battery to our battery tester. This device subjects your battery to a variety of tests to determine its strength. If your battery is failing, we can easily replace it for you. Warped Battery Casing In a cold Ohio winter, you'll notice that your battery takes longer than usual to start your engine. This issue is caused by the cold conditions reducing the battery strength. Extreme hot or cold weather for an extended period can result in more serious damage to a battery. The weather and changes in external pressure affect the battery chemicals and can cause the casing to distort. The chemicals inside the battery can't escape as the pressure in the battery changes. The increase in internal pressure can cause the battery casing to warp. The damaged battery casing will reduce the battery strength, and this can illuminate the check battery light on the dash. If you pop the hood and see your battery is distorted, it's time to visit us for a replacement. Rotten Egg Smell Hydrogen sulfide smells like rotten eggs and is a dangerous and corrosive chemical. It can form in your engine when the battery starts to fail. As sulfuric acid in the battery breaks down, it releases hydrogen. Hydrogen gas can escape the battery, where it joins with sulfur in the engine to form hydrogen sulfide. This new chemical is drawn to the positive and negative battery terminals, and it will slowly corrode them. The corrosion will cause further damage to the battery and make it more likely to fail. If you smell hydrogen sulfide, your battery is failing and will need to be replaced. If your battery is failing, call us ASAP at Mazda of Wooster, and we'll replace it for you.
