You can check certain things about your car by yourself and notice when something is wrong, but you should always have the vehicle checked by a professional at your localĀ Mazda dealership, too. For example, heading to the dealer for an alignment check when your car is behaving strangely lets the technicians determine the scope of the problem and fix it, getting your car back to acting the way it should be.

1. Your Car Won’t Go Straight

You’ll typically have trouble with your car’s handling when your wheels are out of alignment. The car could pull to one side while you’re trying to drive straight. This is because your wheels may be pointing to one side at all times, so holding the steering wheel straight will just get the car to drive in the direction its wheels are pointed in.

When you’re dealing with this problem, your steering wheel may visibly be tilted to one side instead of in its normal neutral position.

2. Your Tires Are Visibly Out Of Alignment

Alignment problems can make it look like your vehicle is in the middle of turning even when it’s not, as your wheels no longer face straight ahead when your steering wheel is in a neutral position. You could also notice that the tires could be tilted so that only the edges of one or more of them touches the ground. These issues mean it’s definitely time to get your vehicle’s alignment fixed.

3. Your Tires Are Wearing Down Fast

Rapid wear on parts of your tires tells you that those areas are making more contact with the ground and wearing away faster than the rest of the tires. This can be caused by poor alignment, especially if the tires are tilted toward or away from the car. As we mentioned above, tilted tires caused by poor wheel alignment usually only have part of each tilted tire touching the road, so those parts will wear down a lot faster than the rest.

4. Your Vehicle Vibrates

Misaligned wheels can cause extra vibrations while driving if some of the wheels are pointing in different directions. Wheels pointing in different directions are attempting to pull your car in two directions at once, but your vehicle’s alignment is being dragged back to the middle, leading to uncomfortable rides with excessive vibrations.

5. Your Steering Wheel Feels Loose

If it feels like your steering wheel is looser than it used to be, then your car may be out of alignment. You might also feel like your vehicle is becoming harder to handle and as though it’s no longer responding to your steering the way it used to.
